Our Projects

All the women in our alumnae are first-generation immigrants to Canada. We are grateful for our new home and the warmth and generosity of the Canadian people. We recognize the need to give back to our communities. We will partner with a Women's shelter in the Spring to donate clean and gently used clothing, warm winter coats, long pants, boots, sweaters, hats and mittens. If you wish to partner with us on this project, please use our Contact form to connect with us. We are also  accepting donations of linens and toiletries to create Care packages to add to the Clothing drive.

Our Alumnae also supports girls who demonstrate a desire to learn music, as well as teachers who have students willing to learn. We believe that by sharing instruments and musical experiences, children who would not otherwise have the opportunity can experience a kind of freedom and self-discovery that is often stifled in an atmosphere of economic hardship. We contributed to the purchase and shipment of musical instruments for the band.

METHODIST GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL - OLD GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION - Ontario, believes in giving children the chance to learn in a safe classroom environment. We partnered with Alumnae Chapters in Freetown, Washington Metro, NY/NJ/CT/MA, Georgia, Texas and Canada to renovate, repair, and paint MGHS buildings and classrooms. This initiative will lay the groundwork to empower young girls in Sierra Leone with educational opportunities to graduate from secondary school and to ensure them the possibility of higher education in order to achieve successful lives as young and productive citizens.
