Donation Policy

1. Purpose

This policy explains how the Methodist Girls’ High School Old Girls Association, Ontario, Canada Chapter (“MGHSOGAO”) receives, uses and acknowledges donations made through https://mghsogaontarioca.org, by Interac e-Transfer, or by cheque.

2. Ways to Give

• PayPal: online donations are processed by PayPal to connect@mghsogaontarioca.org. Card donations may be possible without a PayPal account.
• Interac e-Transfer: sent to connect@mghsogaontarioca.org.
• Cheque: payable to MGHSOGAO and mailed to the address published on our Donate page.
• Sponsorship, partnership and in-kind support: use the Donation & Sponsorship Interest form on our Donate page.

3. Use of Funds

Donations support the chapter’s work and our Alma Mater, Methodist Girls’ High School, including books, equipment and computers; school and classroom improvement; scholarships and mentoring; sanitation, fresh water and student wellbeing; and community and alumnae-led initiatives.

Unless you designate a specific project, donations go where the need is greatest. We honour designated gifts. If a designated project is fully funded, cancelled or cannot proceed, we will apply your gift to the closest related purpose, or contact you where practical.

4. Tax Receipts

MGHSOGAO is a registered not-for-profit organization in Ontario. Unless we expressly state otherwise for a particular campaign, we are not a registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency and cannot issue official income tax receipts. We provide a written acknowledgment of your gift on request.

5. Refunds of Donations

Donations are voluntary gifts and are generally non-refundable. We will refund a donation made in error, such as a duplicate payment or an incorrect amount, when you notify us within 30 days of the gift.

Email connect@mghsogaontarioca.org with your name, date, amount and payment method. Refunds are returned to the original payment method. Processing fees that the payment provider does not return may be deducted.

6. Donor Privacy

We never sell, rent or trade donor information. Donor names are recognized publicly only with your permission. You may give anonymously by telling us when you donate. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Accountability

Donations are recorded and reviewed by the chapter executive and reported to members. Questions about how funds are used are welcome at any time.
