From Freetown to Ontario: Why Our Sisterhood Still Matters

· MGHSOGAO Ontario

Some bonds are formed in classrooms and strengthened over a lifetime. For the women of Methodist Girls’ High School, that bond began in Freetown and travelled with us across oceans.

The Methodist Girls’ High School Old Girls Association in Ontario (MGHSOGAO) was founded in 2013 by alumnae who understood something simple: distance does not end a sisterhood. Whether we graduated in the 1970s or the 2010s, we share the same values. Discipline, faith, excellence and service were instilled in us at MGHS.

Here in Ontario, MGHSOGAO is a home away from home. We gather to celebrate milestones, support one another through life’s transitions and mentor the next generation. We also give back to the school that shaped us.

Membership is more than a title. It is a network of women who understand where you come from and champion where you are going. It is laughter at reunions, encouragement in hard seasons and pride in our shared heritage.

If you are an MGHS old girl living in Ontario, we want to hear from you. Your sisters are here.
